Paraffin Wax is extracted from crude oil when the processing of light tincture greasing oil is done. The classification of the waxes relates to the level of paraffin wax refinement. Some of these steps include slack wax, semi -Refined Paraffin Wax,Fully Refined Paraffin, wax, and scale wax. Semi refined wax contains not above1.5 percent oil, whereby fully refined paraffin contains not above 0.5 percent oil content. The wax features a water-like lucidity and unscented, have a low melting point, and optimum temperatures. Application of semi-refined paraffin wax includes candle manufacturing industry, sealing of bottles, making irons smooth, lubricating of drawers, preventing of oxidation in steel or iron. The wax is also used in windows to make the opening and closing smooth.
They comprise of extensive straight-chain hydrocarbons and have a crystalline structure. Semi refined wax is inert, insoluble in alcohol and water.
